When I started out as a temp, I knew very little about welding. Federal Signal helped me enroll in their Weld School, which gave me the tools I needed to master my craft. We have a culture of mentorship – when one of us struggles, the team is there to help. I’m proud to say that I’ve been promoted to welding the frames that our dump bodies sit on. Working with Federal Signal has pushed me to grow as an employee and as a woman. Five years ago, my future was unclear. Now, with a clear career path ahead of me, I am looking to buy my first house. I started from the bottom, and I plan to go to the top!

After the second of my three children went off to college, I decided it was time to return to work. It was a bit intimidating walking into a new job after being out of the workforce for 20+ years, but everyone I met at Federal Signal was friendly and helpful. I started out as a part-time corporate event planner in 2021, however my responsibilities quickly grew and within eight months I was promoted. Now I focus on integration, strategic planning and other marketing projects. My work is challenging, and I am constantly learning, yet I can see the direct impact of what I do – and I love it! I am proud to be a success story for Federal Signal’s Returnship program, which encourages people to return to work after an extended career break.
